Ingredients

Breadcrumb Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Dip Ingredients

  • 16 ounce jar cocktail onions, drained well
  • 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Chop Onions: Chop the 16 ounce jar of drained cocktail onions into smaller bite-sized pieces and set them aside.
  2. Toast Breadcrumbs: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 3 Tablespoons of unsalted butter. Add 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs along with ½ teaspoon each of onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Stir continuously until the breadcrumbs turn golden brown, then remove them from the skillet into a bowl.
  3. Prepare Dip Mixture: Transfer half of the toasted breadcrumbs to a large mixing bowl. Add the softened 8 ounce block of cream cheese, 1 cup sour cream, ½ cup mayonnaise, 2 Tablespoons ketchup, 1 Tablespoon white granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon horseradish, ½ teaspoon each of onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, black pepper, ¼ teaspoon salt, ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional), 1 teaspoon dried parsley, and the chopped onions to the bowl.
  4. Combine Dip Ingredients: Use a hand mixer to thoroughly blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  5. Serve the Dip: Transfer the blended dip to a serving bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate if not serving immediately. Just before serving, top the dip with the remaining toasted breadcrumbs and a sprinkle of dried parsley for garnish.

Notes

  • Use panko breadcrumbs for better crispiness.
  • Softening the cream cheese before mixing ensures a smoother dip.
  • The cayenne pepper is optional; adjust based on preferred spice level.
  • If you want a thicker dip, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
  • The dip can be made a day in advance to enhance flavors.
