Reese’s Pieces Muddy Buddies is a sweet and crunchy snack mix combining crispy Chex cereal coated in a rich chocolate and peanut butter glaze, dusted with powdered sugar, and studded with mini Reese’s cups and Reese’s Pieces for a delicious candy-packed treat.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 9 cups Chex cereal
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups mini Reese’s cups
  • 1 1/2 cups Reese’s pieces

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat Ingredients: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi sweet chocolate chips, peanut butter, unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is melted and smooth.
  2. Coat Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the Chex cereal. Stir gently until the cereal is evenly coated.
  3. Add Powdered Sugar: Place the powdered sugar into two gallon-sized storage bags. Divide the coated cereal evenly between the bags, seal them, and shake vigorously until all the cereal is well coated in powdered sugar.
  4. Set Mixture: Spread the coated cereal onto a baking sheet or keep in the bags to set for 1 hour, allowing the coating to firm up and the flavors to meld.
  5. Add Candies and Serve: Once set, mix in the mini Reese’s cups and Reese’s Pieces. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for snacking.

Notes

  • For easier melting, stir the chocolate mixture thoroughly between microwave intervals to prevent burning.
  • Use fresh powdered sugar for dusting to avoid clumping.
  • You can customize the candy mix-ins based on your preferences or to include allergy-safe options.
  • To keep the snack crunchy, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • If you want a nuttier flavor, substitute peanut butter with almond butter, but note the flavor will differ.
